To lead a happy and effective quality life – we must take care our body. We must know that the body has natural way to heal your body.

Additionally, we must take care of its critical areas, these are profession, health, relationships, finances and spirituality. Disruption in any of these makes life problematic and frustrating. Amongst of these, health often becomes the limiting one.

Whether we are in a corporate world, an entrepreneur or a busy home maker, healthy habits tend to take a back seat, during the hustle of everyday workload. That is why at the middle of age, a variety of diseases enter our life like Hypertension, diabetes, backache, and even cardiac issues.

But at that time we neglect our health. Then, when old age sets in, our body is surrounded by afflictions, we realize that disrespecting our health was a very big mistake, but by then it’s too late.

Hence, we should follow healthy habits at the earliest which provides us with well being and longevity. They may be hard to develop because they require some small sacrifices.

If we are ready to tolerate the discomfort zone, the benefits will be amazing. Like wise, unhealthy habits may be tough to break, but once we overcome them, our life will be filled with strength and stamina.

Now let us discuss how we keep our body disease free with a balanced diet. The definition of balanced diet is Food that provides all the nutrients for our body’s requirements in the right proportions. Body needs macronutrients, micronutrients, water and phytonutrients.

Macronutrients: Protein, Carbohydrates, Fats.

Micronutrients: Vitamins, Minerals.

Phytonutrients: Plants produce these chemicals to protect themselves but recent research shows that they can also protect humans against diseases.

Examples include lycopene in tomatoes, Isoflavones in soy, Flavonoids in fruits, Beta Carotene in carrots, Anthocyanins in berries, Isothiocyanates in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower, Lutein in dark leafy greens.

These macro-micro and phytonutrients have potent antioxidant activity. it is essential for production of energy in every cell of the body, allowing the cells to live longer.

In addition, It protects the body from destructive free radicals, enhances the immune system, preventing and treating heart diseases, diabetes , high blood pressure, obesity, cancer and neurological conditions.

Furthermore, Study shows that imbalance in diet and deficiency of macro-micro nutrients some abnormal chemical reaction takes place in cells termed as free radical molecules (unstable/unpaired molecules).

Molecules often have pairs of electrons. During a chemical reaction, one electron is missing from a molecule. When one molecule is not paired up it makes the molecule reactive, so free radical molecules are usually reactive.

Free radicals can build up in cells and cause damage to other molecules. A free radical will create another free radical in its attempt to find an electron to make a pair for itself. Free radicals cause DNA damage.

Production of free radical molecules within our body:

-Free radicals are produced within our body during the metabolism of food that we eat and leakage of electrons from the electron transport chain within mitochondria (middle part of cells).

-Additionally, within the body naturally through inflammation of cell membranes also produce free radicals.

    -Moreover, due to environmental factors, including smoking, alcohol, pesticides, pollution and radiation produce free radicals.

    Prevention of free radicals production:

    Antioxidants are the free radical hunters within the body. Oxidation occurs all over the body at the cellular level. Deffinition of Oxidation is the process in which an electron is missing from a molecule during a chemical reaction.

    Antioxidants are molecules that prevent the oxidation of other molecules. They donate an electron to the free radicals, reducing their reactivity. Antioxidants are unique because they can donate an electron without becoming reactive and becoming free radicals themselves.

    Every antioxidant behaves differently due to its chemical properties.
